Join us for a 2.5-hour, 6 km walking tour of Brisbane and discover the stories, landmarks, and hidden corners that have shaped Queensland’s capital. As we stroll through the heart of the River City, your local Brisbane storyteller will bring the streets, buildings, and river to life with fascinating tales from the 1800s and 1900s, revealing the people, events, and characters that helped shape modern Brisbane.
Starting in King George Square, we’ll explore some of Brisbane’s most iconic sites, including City Hall, ANZAC Square, Customs House, the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Queensland Parliament House, and South Bank. Along the way, you'll visit the magnificent St John’s Cathedral, the only neo-Gothic cathedral in the Southern Hemisphere built to a traditional medieval design, as well as hidden Aboriginal art, admire views of the Story Bridge, historic buildings, hidden laneways, and riverside landmarks.
Brisbane is a city of contrasts, where beautifully preserved heritage buildings sit alongside striking modern skyscrapers. As we walk through the city, you'll discover how Brisbane's architectural landscape reflects its transformation from a colonial outpost into a thriving global city, creating one of Australia's most distinctive urban environments.
Hear stories of floods, architectural achievements and the city's remarkable evolution over the past two centuries. Along the way, you'll uncover fascinating details and hidden stories and sights that many locals pass by every day without ever noticing.
The tour is conducted at a leisurely walking pace, but participants should have a reasonable level of fitness to comfortably complete the 6 km route over approximately 2.5 hours. The walk includes a few stairs and uneven surfaces. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a hat, and carry water to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
PLEASE NOTE: The tour finishes at a different location from where it begins. We start our journey in King George Square at the Lion Statues in the heart of Brisbane and conclude at South Bank. Throughout the tour, your guide will happily share local recommendations for things to see and do, hidden gems, and some of Brisbane’s favourite cafés, restaurants, and bars. At the conclusion of the walk, your guide can also suggest activities, dining options, and provide easy directions for returning to the city centre.
