Brisbane at War

We will begin our tour atop Queens Wharf for an introduction to Brisbane through the World Wars and to get a full understanding of the country town Brisbane was in the 1940’s when war came to the South Pacific and the Japanese threat was imminent.

We will walk through the CBD along George St, stopping at key points of Brisbane war history, controversy and tension between the Australian and American allies including statues, buildings and places. We will then proceed to City Hall and its role in the war and the Americans stationed here.

Walking our way down Queen Street we’ll hear about chemical warfare, the vital role the famous Brisbane decoders played and then onto where General Macarthur was Headquartered before proceeding to Creek and Adelaide Streets. Here we will learn about the infamous battle of the Allies – World War II’s secret and devastating battle on home soil. We will conclude at Anzac Square, a stunning greenspace that commemorates the many battles fought by Australian men and women.

At the end of the walk, guests are provided with a tour-specific QR code detailing recommendations of additional luxury activities and venues to visit, all featured on an interactive digital map that also marks out nearby dining, drink and shopping options.
